Self-Introduction for Newbies

11樓 leonhart 2024-9-6 21:01
Hi everyone, I am leon, and I'm now an undergraduate student majoring in computer science. My hobbies include listening to music, playing computer games (such as HSR) and watching movies. Currently I am struggling in preparing for the TOEFL and GRE exams. Nice to meet you everyone and I really like the atmosphere here LOL.

回复 @啊啊是谁都对:oh this name comes from Annie Leonhart. She's a character in the comic "Attack on Titan". She's really cool and thus I choose to use this as my name. Nevertheless, I still don't have a formal English name now. When I was in the US others simply call me by the pinyin of my first name. I am considering to take an English name starts with N (I once considered Neil, but this name is the same as my Professor so I won't choose it).

回复 @圆环之理:Thanks~ Frankly speaking these tests are torturing and expensive. I have to recipe numerous words everyday and practice my spoken English. Sometimes I wish that I could wake up one day and find that I am a native speaker lol. Still, I will keep fighting on this.

回复 @圆环之理:yeah that's also a problem that I have also encountered. From my perspective, it is not a must to cross this gap. There is no need to integrate into the group of native speakers. Just be yourself and enjoy your life. If your language skill is enough to deal with all daily things, then I think that's enough. As for me, if I go to the US I may still make friends with Chinese people (since I once tried to make friends with some white people and found it uncomfortable) . However if you really want to cross that gap, you may need an environment that everyone is using this language. This can be a tough problem and hope this will help you.

回复 @圆环之理:that's a good question, but I cannot answer it since I only stayed there for half a year as an exchange student. Well I think people don't do such things. They will dress like ghost and attend party, but won't scare others (otherwise the ghost may be shot by the gun as it is common for an American to carry a gun).
