1. 时间上的区别

Within 强调“在某个时间段内”完成或发生，通常指不超过某个期限。

✅ I will finish the report within three days. （我将在三天内完成报告。）→ 不超过三天

❌ I will finish the report in three days. （我将在三天后完成报告。）→ 三天之后

In 可以表示“在……之后”（未来时间），或者“在……期间”（较长的时间段）。

✅ She will arrive in an hour. （她一小时后到。）→ 一小时后

✅ Many changes happened in the 20th century. （20世纪发生了许多变化。）→ 在某个时间段内

2. 空间上的区别

Within 强调“在某个范围或界限之内”，通常指内部、不超出。

✅ The keys are within the box. （钥匙在盒子里面。）→ 强调内部

✅ The school is within walking distance. （学校在步行可达的范围内。）→ 不超出某个范围

In 泛指“在某个空间内”，但不一定强调界限。

✅ She is in her room. （她在房间里。）→ 单纯表示位置

✅ There’s a cat in the garden. （花园里有只猫。）→ 不强调范围限制

3. 抽象概念的区别

Within 可以表示“在能力、权限、规则等内部范围”。

✅ It’s within his power to change the policy. （改变政策在他的权限范围内。）

❌ It’s in his power... （较少用，可能表达不同意思）

In 可以表示“在某种状态或情况中”。

✅ He is in trouble. （他遇到麻烦了。）

❌ He is within trouble. （错误用法）
