Inside Jokes & Identity: Do you feel more “Chinese,” “global,” or “netizen” when you use certain memes—why? Maybe; I even use Internet memes in everyday life unconsciously! But the reason is inexplictable, perhaps partly because of my vanity. In addition, the meme is a essence setting some groups apart from others, right?

Maybe some memes are Chinese-characteristic or others can convey things that human will face (or is facing)

At least partly true. Many memes are produced in some sub-culture communities. One cannot really understand the meme unless he knows the sub-culture beneath it.

Ah! A thing occurred to me: the hell joke. The hell jokes can be regarded as a kind of meme. And their contents vary due to different cultures.
