1樓 啊啊是谁都对 2026-1-11 14:08
Introduction:
This week, we are focusing on the statement: "The meaning of life lies in giving, in devoting, not in receiving, nor in demanding."

We will explore what this idea means and how it resonates in our daily lives. This topic might bring up thoughts about generosity, purpose, or the balance between selflessness and self-care. Do you agree with this perspective, or do you see it differently? Share your reflections and experiences.

Subquestions for Discussion:

Personal Reflection: To what extent do you personally agree or disagree with this statement? Can you share an experience from your own life that either supports or challenges this idea?

Defining Key Concepts: How do you understand the words "giving" and "devoting" in this context? Do they refer only to actions toward others, or can they also include dedication to a passion, craft, or personal growth?

The Balance of Human Experience: Is it truly possible or even healthy to completely separate "giving" from "receiving"? Are there ways in which receiving—such as accepting help, love, or knowledge—can also be a meaningful part of life?

Potential Challenges and Limits: What might be the potential downsides or risks of taking this philosophy to an extreme? How can one practice giving and devoting without leading to exhaustion, resentment, or the neglect of one's own needs?

Alternative Perspectives: Can you think of other compelling views on the meaning of life that differ from this one? For instance, could meaning also be found in creating, understanding, experiencing joy, or connecting with others in a mutual exchange?

Societal and Cultural Lens: How do you see this value of "giving over receiving" reflected in or challenged by the culture you live in? Consider aspects like consumerism, social expectations, or community traditions.

Practical Application: In the flow of everyday life, what are some simple, concrete ways to incorporate a spirit of giving and devoting, even amidst our own busy schedules and personal demands?

Generally speaking, if you are not rich enough, clothing and worry-free, Receiving is happier than Giving. But if you are already rich enough, Giving is indeed happier than Receiving

If you only receive, you will be seen as an extreme selfish person

If you only give, you cannot get enough resources(like food) to live

Basically I agree with this statement. If you don't have bread, work hard to earn it. If you have enough, trade some for roses

The first reaction of the most people when seeing"giving" and "devoting" is "action toward others". If referring dedication to a passion, craft, or personal growth, in my opinion, not every one will have the ability to concentrate in such things

Nowadays many people believe in "Happy is the biggest thing". They think "only do the things that make them happy" can also form a meaningful life
