【WeeklyTopic 20260308】The School of Life: What Have You Learned on Your Journey?

1樓 圆环之理 2026-3-8 00:20

Introduction:

Hello, English Club members, and welcome to this week’s discussion!

They say that experience is the best teacher, and life is a long, fascinating, and sometimes challenging classroom. Every person we meet, every mistake we make, and every success we celebrate adds a new page to our personal textbook of wisdom.

This week, we're stepping back from textbooks and grammar drills to focus on the most important curriculum of all: life itself. We want to create a warm and inspiring space where we can share the lessons we've gathered along the way.

Whether it's a piece of advice your grandmother gave you, a hard truth you learned from a failure, or a simple realisation that changed your perspective, we want to hear it. Let’s learn from each other’s journeys. After all, shared wisdom is doubled wisdom.

Let's get the conversation started with some questions and subtopics to guide us.

Subtopics & Discussion Questions

Here are some themed areas to help guide the conversation. Feel free to use these questions to spark your responses.

SubTopic 1: The Foundation - Core Beliefs & Attitudes

These questions are about the fundamental shifts in how you see the world.

• What is the single most important life lesson you have learned so far?

• Has your definition of "success" changed as you've gotten older? If so, how?

• What’s something you believe now that your younger self would find hard to understand?

• Do you believe that "everything happens for a reason," or do we create our own reasons?

SubTopic 2: Relationships & Connection

This focuses on what we learn from interacting with others.

• What is the most important quality you look for in a friend now compared to when you were younger?

• What has a difficult relationship (with a partner, family member, or friend) taught you about yourself?

• Have you learned the hard way about setting boundaries? What did that experience teach you?

• What’s a simple but powerful piece of advice about love or friendship that you live by?

SubTopic 3: Navigating Challenges & Mistakes

This is about resilience, failure, and overcoming obstacles.

• Think of a time you failed at something. Looking back, what valuable lesson did that failure teach you?

• What’s the best advice for getting through a difficult or disappointing time?

• Is there a mistake you keep making? What do you think it’s trying to teach you?

• How has overcoming a past challenge made you stronger or wiser?

SubTopic 4: Practical Wisdom for a Good Life

This covers everyday habits, work, and simple truths.

• What is a small, simple habit that has had a surprisingly positive impact on your life?

• What's the best piece of career or work advice you've ever received (or learned the hard way)?

• What does "living in the moment" actually mean to you, and how do you practice it?

• If you could go back in time and give your 20-year-old self one piece of practical advice, what would it be?

SubTopic 1: The Foundation - Core Beliefs & Attitudes

Welp, I find myself lack of core beliefs; maybe that's because I don't have much experince.

• What is the single most important life lesson you have learned so far?

Others probably think very differently from me.

• What’s something you believe now that your younger self would find hard to understand?

That happiness can't be quantified.

SubTopic 2: Relationships & Connection

• What has a difficult relationship (with a partner, family member, or friend) taught you about yourself?

Everyone is too sensitive sometimes; If feeling offended I should speak it out rather than keep inside, which will ignite my anger and make a relationship worse.

lizhenxuanAnd if I find that I hurt others but I don't know the reasons, I should ask how, in a proper way.

I find it difficult to answer this week's Weekly Topic because of my lack of life experience.
圆环之理I hope you could return to this topic and add your insights when you have more life experiences

• What is the single most important life lesson you have learned so far?

One of the most profound lessons I've internalized is that people should have courage to do something they fear, and people should have curiosity to the world

• Has your definition of "success" changed as you've gotten older? If so, how?

Previously I thought "success" is to have much money, to be good students in school, to be "excellent people". It took me a long time to understand that "success" is to have the courage to be yourself

• What’s something you believe now that your younger self would find hard to understand?

Previously I thought money will only bring happiness. But now I came to realize if you haven't overcome your greed, resentment and stupidity, the money will have more probability to bring disaster than happiness
