This reminds me of my college days, when I met an American international student at the gym. We worked out together many times, but I could only manage simple conversations in my limited English. Once, he asked me a question in English that seemed somewhat thoughtful. I didn't catch it. He rephrased and asked again; still, I couldn't understand. He tried a third time, yet the meaning slipped away from me. Finally, he waved his hand, letting it go. A silence hung in the air, and after that, our connection gently faded.
