【Weekly Topic 2026.05.31】Children’s Day – Looking Back and Moving Forward
總編 二十四級

Children’s Day is just around the corner, a special occasion celebrated in many countries to honor the joy, rights, and well-being of children. For some, it brings back warm memories of small gifts, school performances, and carefree afternoons. For others, it is a reminder to think about how childhood has changed over time and what we can do to protect the happiness of the younger generation. This week, let’s share our personal experiences with Children’s Day and exchange thoughts on its deeper meaning in today’s world. Whether your memories are sweet or simple, your perspective as a former child—and perhaps as a future parent or mentor—will make this discussion meaningful.

Subquestions:

1.      Did you celebrate Children’s Day when you were a child? If so, how did you usually spend it?

2.      What is the most unforgettable Children’s Day gift you have ever received, and why does it stand out?

3.      Can you describe a traditional game or outdoor activity that you loved playing as a child? Is it still popular among children today?

4.      How do you think the way modern children play and celebrate holidays differs from the way you did when you were young?

5.      Describe a moment from your childhood when you felt completely carefree, as if nothing in the world could worry you.

6.      Some people view Children’s Day only as a day for fun and presents. Do you think it should carry a deeper message for society? Why or why not?

7.      In your opinion, what are some major challenges that children face in today’s world, and how can a holiday like Children’s Day help draw attention to them?

8.      Do you believe adults should also have an “Inner Child Day” to revisit the simple joys of childhood? What benefits might such a day bring?

Yes, when I was in elementary school, June 1st was the day when the school held the sport meeting. All students should participate in it as sporters or audience.

2.      What is the most unforgettable Children’s Day gift you have ever received, and why does it stand out?

No gift. Because in elementary school, the time was used to hold sports meeting. And when I was in junior high school, we didn't spend it because we were not pupils.

Sandbag Battle: several boys and girls throw a small square sandbag.

But I don't know if it is still popular among children.
