八爪语字母不但有大小写，还有平写和立写。

立写字母是三维的字母（除了字母o的立写字母是个三维的空心球的形状以外基本上其余的立写字母都不对称），而平写字母则是二维的字母，平写字母全部都是拉丁字母。因为魔塔星球上的人都是用的三维纸张，电脑屏幕也是三维的，所以他们从来都是用三维的立写字母。而我们地球人用的是二维纸张只能写二维的字母，所以魔塔星球的人为了方便交流，制定了八爪语三维立体字母与地球人的拉丁字母的对应关系，也就是现在在本站帖子上看到的平写字母。
