Introduction

The Spring Festival isn’t just about red envelopes and dumplings—it’s a vibrant mix of old rituals and new habits that everyone can see around them! From grandparents insisting on hanging paper couplets to teens sending 🧧 emojis in group chats, this festival keeps evolving while staying rooted in joy.

Let’s explore together:

What never changes?
·Why do people still rush home for reunion dinners even in the age of video calls?
·What simple traditions make Spring Festival feel "real" to you?

What’s quietly changing?
·Are paper lanterns and fireworks losing their charm to TikTok challenges and LED light shows?
·Should we care if "AI-generated couplets" replace handwritten ones?

Tech vs. Tradition 💻🆚🏮
·Would you let a robot lion dance replace the real performers? Why or why not?
·"My parents video-call relatives all day—is this better than visiting them?"

Food for Thought (and Laughs!) 🥟🍕
·Should pizza be allowed on the reunion dinner table? Debate: Tradition vs. Taste!
·What’s the weirdest Spring Festival food combo you’ve seen? (e.g., chocolate dumplings?)

Global Laughs & Wins 🌏😄
·Why do foreign friends giggle when trying to say "Gongxi Facai"?
·Can a shopping mall’s dragon dance decoration in New York spread happiness without cultural context?
"How to explain to foreigners that 🐰 emojis are NOT just for Easter?"

Your Turn to Invent! 🎨
·If you created a NEW Spring Festival emoji, what would it look like? Describe it!
·Propose a funny modern tradition: "On New Year’s Eve, everyone must..."

Grab your favorite snack (dumplings or pizza!) and share your thoughts—no right or wrong answers, just curious minds!

About Spring Festival I will first remember my visit in my home of countryside. I spent my time with my grandparents
圆环之理My grandfather used to grow many flowers on the second floor of their house

I will also remember in the internet many young people say they don't want to visit their relatives any more, because they think their relatives are arrogant, stubborn and stupid

"Why do people still rush home for reunion dinners even in the age of video calls?"

I think the answer is perhaps because of people. Because there are still people in our home whom we miss. And some reunion experience cannot be replaced with video calls

I once lived in Germany for many years and could come back to China only once or twice each year. I can understand this feeling —— Although I can make video calls with my parents each week, I still expect real reunions

I suddenly remember a question on Zhihu. A mother asked on Zhihu, her child wanted to eat a  birthday cake on the new year's eve. This mother asked how to dissuade her child from eating birthday cakes. Many people scolded this questioner in this post

I think that's because the atmosphere of home cannot be replaced by video calls. At home, sometimes you still feel you're a child before your parents. Besides, it's at home that you can really feel relaxed.

Firecrackers. Though too noisy, the sound of "boom" around the corner at the night of Spring Festival's Eve can be a symbol of the Festival.

啊啊是谁都对·Should we care if "AI-generated couplets" replace handwritten ones?

I don't care about that. The couplets now are usually made by print, not handwritten.

Maybe sweet rice balls with different kinds of contents. Traditionally the contents are nuts or grilled sesames. However, I ate a bowl of balls whose contents include chocolate, durian, melon and taro.

Admittedly, they are sweet.

About this question I cannot explain why, but I can only remember in Spring Festival all of my family members sit around a table and have reunion dinner. We can have a feast and make small talks. That makes me feel warm and inviting. This cannot be replaced with video-calls
