Street其中的一句话，是编辑按语的第一句，颇具误导性：While it may seem to be painting the lily, I

但参考上下文，编辑这里是想补充文章作者Alistair Cooke对P Street的回忆细节，所以这里的paint the
lily还是“使过分精致、妍细、浮夸、繁复、华丽”“令……花里胡哨”的意思
