When referring to Christmas, I will think of the movie <The Nightmare before Christmas> at first time

圆环之理: It is said that the Ghost King of Halloween Town Jack Skellington was weary of scaring people. He found Christmas Town accidentally and envied its lovely and warm atmosphere. So he organized his subordinated ghosts to make Christmas. But at last he didn't spread joy to humans. Instead, he scared people

I am a little curious about Santa Claus. Actually this day is the birthday of Jesus. And how did the tale of Santa Claus appear?

Omar: The story of Santa Claus is interesting. Santa Claus is named after Saint Nicholas who lived during the 4th century (400 years after Jesus Christ). Saint Nicholas was a generous person and gave gifts to children. This tradition of giving gifts to children gradually spread through Christian Europe and in the 19th century it was brought over to North America by Dutch immigrants. In North America, the character of Santa Claus was popularized and made commercial, like the fat older Santa Claus we can see today.

I like Christmas themed movies and shows and music. It is fun and interesting to watch such entertainment shows on TV. Movies which I can recommend:

 - Home Alone

 - Love Actually

The best Christmas themed song I like is 'Last Christmas'  by George Michael. Give it a try!

圆环之理: Have you watched <The Nightmare before Christmas>

I think Christmas is generally loved because of its warmth. People can sit around the fireplace, kiss under the mistletoe and tell stories with happy ending together

Now I'm listening Last Chirstmas by Wham! (recommended by @Omar)

啊啊是谁都对: The version of Wham! seems quite sorrow. And the version of Taylor Swift is a kind of feeling that "though sorrow, I should stand up to open a new life."

This night I walked around after supper.

But unluckily, there are few shops that hold Chirstmas Events.

The street has no Chirstmas tree or decoration.

All as the same as ordinary days.

啊啊是谁都对: By the way, some colleges forbids students from going out of college in Dec 24th and 25th, lest they participated in Chirstmas events.

圆环之理: 回复 @啊啊是谁都对:I am curious about why they forbid students from going out and why they allow students to attend Chirstmas events

啊啊是谁都对: 回复 @圆环之理:The colleges forbid students from attending these events.

As for the reasons, I am not sure

啊啊是谁都对: Welp, I read some pieces of news about Beijing's Chirstmas Festival...

I wonder why my district has no event like that?

A funny thing:

People in China give apples wrapped by colour papers each other to celebrate Christmas' Eve.

Because in Chinese, apple's pronunciation is "ping guo". The first word of it is "ping", which is the same as "ping" of "ping an" (safety, joy and peace in English)
