'Being a mum is hard enough without adding more stress'

Understanding one: It's impossible not to add more stress when you are a mum

Understanding two: Being a mum is very hard, so we should not add more stress to ourselves

Which understanding is correct?

I have asked the AI, the AI answered:

The correct understanding of the sentence "Being a mum is hard enough without adding more stress" is:

Understanding two: Being a mum is very hard, so we should not add more stress to ourselves.

This interpretation aligns with the overall meaning of the sentence, which emphasizes that the role of being a mother is already challenging enough, and therefore, it is advisable not to exacerbate the situation by introducing additional stress. The phrase "without adding more stress" suggests that the existing level of stress associated with being a mother is sufficient, and there is no need to increase it further.

On the other hand, Understanding one ("It's impossible not to add more stress when you are a mum") twists the meaning of the sentence, implying that adding more stress is inevitable, which is not what the original sentence conveys. The sentence is actually suggesting the opposite: that we should avoid adding more stress to an already demanding role.

啊啊是谁都对: Then another question occurs:  how can we get the conclusion of "so we shoud not add more stress to ourselves?"  In other words, this sentence can be just a description of stress that being a mum will face. The understanding 2 might go too far.

I'm curious about this question, are these two sentences the same:

Sentence 1 : Being a mum is hard enough without adding more stress.

Sentence 2: Without adding more stress being a mum is hard enough.

圆环之理: I am curious, too

The two sentences convey the same basic meaning, but there is a slight difference in emphasis due to the word order.

Sentence 1: "Being a mum is hard enough without adding more stress."

This sentence places the main focus on the difficulty of being a mum, and then adds the additional information that adding more stress would make it even harder.

Sentence 2: "Without adding more stress being a mum is hard enough."

This sentence starts with the condition "without adding more stress," which slightly emphasizes the idea that the stress is an external factor that could make the already difficult job of being a mum even harder. However, the overall meaning is still the same as Sentence 1.

In summary, while the two sentences are very similar in meaning, the word order creates a slight difference in emphasis.

Previously when I met incomprehensible sentences, I can't find appropriate people to ask, I have to struggle to guess it. So I must say, it's our luck that we have AIs
