Perhaps I will mention that Chinese like to eat watermelon

This phenomenon can be attributed to the price of watermelons in many countries. In China the watermelons are inexpensive and of good quality. But in many other countries people cannot afford it when they eat watermelons on an everyday basis

And the low price of watermelons in China can be attributed to the Chinese academician Mingzhu Wu. She makes the watermelon varieties in China sweet, juicy and high yield. 

But this doesn't have much cultural reasons (and perhaps not very stick to the topic). People in other countries also do enjoy this sweet fruit of vines

Oh, by the way, I've heard the habit that Chinese like to drink hot water was fostered by historical and political reasons. In the time of The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea the American army threw many insects, mice and biological weapons in the battlefront. So the Chinese soldiers had to foster the habit of drinking hot water
