Imagine you could sit in a corner and quietly observe a scene without anyone noticing you—not because you are invisible, but because people are simply unaware. For one day, you can watch human interactions like a documentary viewer. You cannot interfere, you cannot be seen, you just observe. This week, we explore what we notice when we stop performing and start watching.

Discussion Questions:

1.Where would you choose to observe for one day—a busy café, a family dinner, a classroom, a park, or somewhere else? Why that place?

2.What do you think you would notice that people normally miss? Body language, small lies, hidden kindness, or something else?

3.If you could observe one conversation you had last week from the outside, what might you learn about yourself?

4.Do you think people behave differently when they think no one is watching? Have you ever noticed this in real life?

5.If we all spent more time observing and less time judging, would the world become more understanding or more detached?

6.Imagine everyone had to spend one day as an observer once a year. How might that change the way we treat each other?

7.Interactive Element: Find someone who chose a different observation spot than you. Ask them what they hope to learn from that place.

Host's Note: This is not about spying or invading privacy. It is about stepping back and seeing the world with fresh eyes—including seeing ourselves more clearly.

My parents' shop would be the place I choose. My parents sell lights and switchs. I want to learn how to deal with customers, but it's embarassed for me to just follow them, saying nothing.

Azi: A chance to observe freely would be great

Mostly their body language. And their focus when they are talking.

Azi: I mean their focus of eyes

3.If you could observe one conversation you had last week from the outside, what might you learn about yourself?

Well, I can make it in the real life through "retaping" my conversations in my mind a moment after the conversation, and always end up finding I'd said something wrong. An absolute outside conversation would serve as a double check.

Azi: to be honest, I dislike it because I might critize myself more in that way.

Sey myself as an example. I would stream videos when having breakfast if I was home alone, but I'll never do it if others were present, whether it was prihibitted or not.

5.If we all spent more time observing and less time judging, would the world become more understanding or more detached?

More observing would make it easier to notice others' unintentional mistakes, which might lead to quarrels and misunderstanding. However, in a long term, we'd come to realize all of us make mistakes, and even harbor hidden intentions, so that the world would ultimately become more inclusive.

As I said above.

Yes. I've seen it for many times.

I think it would be more detached. The intimacy asks for similarity, and the similarity asks for the same (or the similar) standard. With less judging, a standard would be less effective.

Azi: I understand your words like this: With less judging,  we don't be close to those who are similar to us, so the world would become detached.  Is that true?

啊啊是谁都对: 回复 @Azi:I try to explain in a clearer way: people need "judging" to discriminate themselves (or those who are regarded as to be with them) and others. And people usually share the same standard when judging. When the common standard exists, people can easily do that. But more observation with less judging will make it hard to find a standard to identify a person on one's own side.

I think I would choose a hospital because I would like to observe how people deal with life and death

lizhenxuan: Wow,  it's thought-provoking.

I think I would notice an elder try to dissuade his children from spending much money in the treatment because this disease is cureless. But his children persist in the treatment because they want to give themselves peace of mind
