「星星尚且能遵循自己的軌跡穿行，那人類呢…人類真的無法掌握自己的命運嗎？」

優渥的家庭背景給予了艾絲妲探索星空的力量，但也成為了她本人的束縛。

隨著年歲增長，艾絲妲想當天文學家的誓言，逐漸被家族視為某種旁門左道——她甚至不記得已經有多少次在家族會議上和親戚爭論這個問題了。

直到某次會議結束後，一個人偶少女從門外走入。而剛剛還盛氣凌人的其中一人，在她身旁卻是一副唯唯諾諾的姿態。

「就這個小姑娘吧。」
「但是她…」
「什麼但是，我大老遠過來聽你們那些狗屁不通的學術匯報，還不如聽這小姑娘和你們吵架有趣。」
「……」
「三天之內，我要在空間站里看到她。」

人偶少女說完，頭也不回地離去。  

Character Story: Part III

• Unlocked at Character Level 60

"The stars follow their own orbits, but what about humans... Can we humans ever hope to control our own destiny?"

A wealthy family background grants Asta the power to explore the stars, but also become her personal shackles.

As she grows older, Asta's vow to become an astronomer was viewed as increasingly radical by her family. She begins to lose count of how many times she'd argue during family meetings about this very thing.

Until one day, after a family meeting, a puppet girl walks in, and one of the family members who were so domineering a moment ago suddenly changes into a yes-man.

"That's the girl."
"But she'd..."
"No buts. I didn't come all this way to listen to your garbage academic reports. I'd rather listen to this girl debate with you."
"..."
"I want to see her on the space station within three days."

And with that, the puppet girl walks straight out without looking back.

成為空間站「黑塔」的站長後，艾絲妲的生活相較從前更為忙碌。她需要管理各抒己見的科員，替黑塔回復多如牛毛的信件，以及頻繁和公司交涉，從各種渠道購置新的設備…但與此同時，她也在這裡獲得了最大的自由——

「調用2號設備艙的紐爾•伊曼望遠鏡，設置100倍天文單位，觀測前方『星前雲核』。」
「要特別注意粒子密度，一旦發現超緻密結構，馬上開始記錄『恆星胚胎』的分裂過程。」

閒暇時，艾絲妲偶爾也會想起，自從自己接手這個空間站之後，黑塔女士已經許久沒有出現。她也曾詢問過，得到的只是「沒有趣的新東西，我就不來了」這樣的回覆。

「…還不如聽這小姑娘和你們吵架有趣。」

她想起很久以前的那一天，黑塔漫不經心地跟身邊人說道。

回憶中的黑塔仿佛站在絢爛的星光中，帶給她掌控星空與自己命運的力量。  

Character Story: Part IV

• Unlocked at Character Level 80

After becoming the Lead Researcher of the Herta space station [sic], Asta's life is now busier than ever before. She has to manage the researchers and their differing opinions, reply to the numerous correspondence meant for Herta, constantly negotiate with the IPC, and procure equipment from various different sources... But at the same time, she's experiencing the greatest freedom she'd ever known...

"Deploy the Nyul Iman telescope in the second equipment bay. Set it to 100× astronomical units, and begin observation of the pre-stellar core in front of us."
"Pay close attention to particle density. If you discover any super-dense structures, commence recording of the protostar fragmentation process at once."

In her spare time, Asta would sometimes consider how Madam Herta never seems to come around anymore after Asta arrived at the space station. She even made inquiries, but was told, "If there's no interesting new stuff, I won't bother coming in."

"...I'd rather listen to this girl debate with you."

She thought back to the words Herta had casually told her family on that day long age [sic].

The Herta of her memories seems to stand out amongst resplendent starlight, giving her the power to control the starry sky — and her own destiny.

Character Details

Heir to the Supreme Guardian of Belobog, she is the young and capable commander of the Silvermane Guards.
Bronya received a rigorous education from an early age, and as such, possesses the grace and affinity as expected of an heir.
However, after witnessing the abysmal conditions in the Underworld, seeds of doubt begin growing in the mind of Belobog's future leader. "Can all the training I've received really help me lead the people to the lives they want?"

女孩看到勞作的人們揮汗如雨，生存的重壓碾碎了他們對生活的熱情。注視著一雙雙疲勞但質樸的眼眸，她陷入困惑的泥沼：人生莫非註定如此？正如廣闊的天空被巨大的鋼鐵圓盤切割，或許她嚮往的自由也註定有所殘缺。

她奮力從泥沼中掙脫出來，默默在落滿塵灰的石路上寫下自己將要貫徹一生的理想。

Character Story: Part I

She learned to hide her thoughts from an early age. Every day, she'd walk the same paths with the other kids, play the same games, and gossip about the same hobbies. But she never felt taken over by the trivial and bland nature of life — she'd sit on a gray stone bench every time she was alone, looking up at the sky and imagining a perfect and complete sky unobstructed by that flat disc.

She could see the laborers dripping with sweat as they toil, the pressure of survival crushing their passion for life. Seeing the tired but earnest look in their eyes, she slipped into a quagmire of confusion: Is life really destined to be like this? Just as the vastness of the sky was dissected by that monstrous steel disc, perhaps the freedom she yearned for was also destined to be incomplete.

She struggled to break free from this quagmire, silently recording the ideals that she'd come to implement in her life on that dusty stone road.

"Make the world a better place."

女孩坐在母親膝上，她有些冰涼的臂彎繞過自己的脖頸，給女孩帶去無以言表的安全感。母親的嗓音溫婉、深邃，她在給女孩講述一個歷史久遠的民間故事——那個故事的結尾不算圓滿，但女孩卻很鍾意。母親早已摸清她的喜好，那些以團圓收尾的童話會讓女孩感到無趣，免去很多不必要的疑問，是誘她在晚上早早入眠的絕佳方法。

「母親大人…為什麼格勒勳爵不能像凱薩琳那樣，過上快樂的生活？」
「你希望他快樂嗎，布洛妮婭？」
「格勒勳爵是個善良的人。善良的人都該過上快樂的生活。」

那段對話沒有繼續，但她記得母親露出了溫柔的笑容。多年以後，回想起那個克里珀堡溫暖的午後，她覺得母親當時的笑容也許藏匿了一絲遺憾。  

Character Story: Part II

• Unlocked at Character Level 40

Sitting on her mother's lap, cold arms wrapped around her neck, she felt an indescribable sense of security. Her mother's voice was gentle and deep as she told the girl an ancient folk tale — the ending of which is hardly satisfying, but nevertheless, the girl enjoyed it very much. Her mother knew what she liked, and those fairy tales with happy endings would just leave her feeling bored and arise far too many questions. Telling stories with bad endings is an excellent way to lure the girl into falling asleep at night.

"Mother... Why can't Lord Grey live a happy life like Catherine?"
"Do you want him to be happy, Bronya?"
"Lord Grey is a kind man. Kind people deserve to live a happy life."

The conversation stopped there, but she remembered her mother's gentle smile. Years later, when she recalled that warm afternoon at Qlipoth Fort, she felt that her mother's smile might have hidden a sliver of regret.

從披上銀鬃鐵衛戰服的一刻起，少女已經做好了一切覺悟。但她參加的第一場葬禮，情境之沉重仍然遠超想像。

那是她第一次領軍出戰，在北方的廢墟中，鐵衛與裂界造物展開殘酷的廝殺。少女帶領十餘名兵士孤軍深入，奮勇作戰直到彈盡糧絕。緊急撤離的途中，恐怖的裂界幻影向她發起了突襲——致命的攻擊被一名列兵捨身擋下，她甚至來不及看清救命恩人的面龐。

葬禮的悠長號角聲響起。年輕的戍衛官看出了少女的悲戚，來到她的身旁。

「棺木是空的。我甚至來不及把他帶回貝洛伯格…」
「不要自責，布洛妮婭小姐。為你，為這座城市，這裡的每個人都願意做出同樣的犧牲。」
「…我真希望自己能和他互換位置。」
「學會咽下這些沉重的念想，也是成為領袖的必經之路。」  

Character Story: Part III

• Unlocked at Character Level 60

From the moment she donned her Silvermane Guard armor, she was already prepared. But the first funeral she ever attended was still far more heavy than she could ever have imagined.

It was her first time leading a campaign. In the northern ruins, the Silvermane Guards and Fragmentum monsters engaged in brutal combat. She led a crack squad of about a dozen soldiers deep behind enemy lines, fighting bravely until they ran out of ammo and food. As they made their way to the evac point, the terrifying Fragmentum creatures ambushed her — but the fatal attack was blocked by a brave private at the cost of his life. She didn't even have the time to see the face of her savior.

The prolonged wail of the funeral horn rang out. The young captain saw her grief, and came to her side.

"The coffin's empty. I couldn't even manage to bring him back to Belobog..."
"Don't blame yourself, Miss Bronya. For you and the city... everyone here is willing to make the same sacrifice."
"...I really wish I could swap places with him."
"Learning to bear these heavy burdens is the only way to become a true leader."

女人在房間中來回踱步，一扇頑固的大門攔在她和成百上千的民眾之間。她對類似的宣講早已十分熟悉，但等候時間的焦慮從未隨著演說技藝的精進而消退。回想自己即將作出的承諾，還有那些為撫慰人心而精心設計的語句，她總會在這短暫的幾分鐘裡陷入孩童般的混亂和懷疑。

一陣突如其來的微風攪動了室內凝滯的空氣，拂過她的長髮。女人轉過身，看到那個熟悉的身影向自己走來——她的步伐輕盈無聲，身姿如斑斕的蝶群掠過死氣沉沉的廳堂。

「又在胡思亂想了？」

蝴蝶似的女人問到，臉上掛著些逗弄的笑意。她還以一個無奈的微笑。

「老樣子，你知道的——事前緊張，上台後就能發揮出全部狀態了。」
「嘿，你可別掉鏈子啊。那幫老古董最近想搞些小動作，正愁抓不到你的把柄呢。」
「哈哈…那可得麻煩你幫我看好他們了。」
「喲，看來時間到了。」

大廳內迴蕩起齒輪嚙合、轉動的沉悶聲響。女人最後朝身邊之人的方向瞥了一眼——她退入陰影里，帶著信任的微笑點頭示意。

大門緩緩打開，一線溫暖的光芒射入廳堂，照亮了她的面龐。隨之而來的是震耳欲聾的歡呼、喝彩。

「走吧，布洛妮婭。」  

Character Story: Part IV

• Unlocked at Character Level 80

The woman paces back and forth in the room, and a door separates her from the throngs of people. She is already very familiar with giving this kind of speeches, but the anxiety of the wait never abated despite the refinement of her oratory skills. Thinking back on the promise she is about to make and the words of consolation she'd crafted, she sinks into a child-like state of confusion and disbelief during those brief minutes.

A sudden breeze stirs the stale air in the room, brushing through her long hair. She turns around to see a familiar figure walking toward her — with delicate, quiet steps like a kaleidoscope of butterflies fluttering through the lifeless hall.

"Over-thinking things again?"

The woman looking like a butterfly asks, with a teasing smile on her face. She replies with an exasperation grin.

"Same as always, you know — I'm nervous beforehand, but can play to my audience once on stage."
"Hey, don't screw this up. Those old fossils want to play politics, and they're just waiting for an opportunity for you to slip up."
"Haha... Then I'll have to ask you to keep an eye on them for me."
"Hey, looks like time is up."

The dull sound of gears gnashing and turning echoes in the hall. She cast one last look back at the person beside her — who retreats into the shadows with a nod and a trusting smile.

The door creaks open and a beam of warm light shot into the hall, lighting up her face. What follows are deafening applause and cheers.

"Let's go, Bronya."

如今雖已褪去鋒芒，專心操持公務，但「羅浮」的航向上始終有她的身影。  

Character Details

The Xianzhou Luofu's Head of the Sky-Faring Commission is gentle, yet seasoned and authoritative.
Having been a pilot since young, she had become the commission's head with her outstanding combat achievements, yet she no longer flies due to a particularly brutal battle.
Now, her shine had already dimmed as she shifted her focus to official duties, but she is always seen guiding the course of the Luofu.

我們與形壽無盡的仙舟人不同。雖然狐人也被稱作「長生種」，但壽元也不過三百餘載。所以，我們中的許多人更加樂於盡情享受生活樂趣——全心全靈，只為追求生活的極致。

我？現年二百四十六歲，半截身子入土，早就過了享樂的年紀。你或許知道我年輕時也性格潑辣，手段風雷；在老一輩仙舟人口中，你還可能聽說過我連闖六個紅燈的戰績。

那會兒我才剛成年，就被人提溜到將軍面前…結果你猜怎麼著？他竟然讓我加入天舶司——只因為我星槎開得實在漂亮，想來定能在這天舶司大有作為。

那時候，他管我叫「不良少女」。後來，他們叫我「王牌」。  

Character Story: Part I

"You know, only three kinds of people can work for the Sky-Faring Commission.
Those who have the gift of gab, those who seek excitement, and those who crave to return to the stars — no exceptions."

We are different from the Xianzhou natives with their unending lives. Even though foxians are also considered a long-life species, our lives span only three centuries. Therefore, many of us are more passionate about enjoying the fun in life — chasing the best moments in life with all our heart and soul.

Me? I am currently 246 years old. I am one step into my grave and have long gone past my days of merriment. You might know of my decisive and dashing ways when I was younger. In the tales of older Xianzhou natives, you might even hear of my achievement — such as running six consecutive red lights.

I had just become an adult back then, and I was dragged in front of the general for the infringement... Guess what happened? The general wanted me to join the Sky-Faring Commission purely because of my piloting prowess, and he thought I was going to make it big in the Sky-Faring Commission.

Back then, he used to call me the "Delinquent Girl." Later on, they all called me "Ace."

很多年前，我聽過這樣一首域外的古詩。它們的韻律與仙舟詩不同，我談不上喜歡，可唯獨這句始終盤旋在我心中，像魂靈揮之不去。

我見識過異邦人如何衰老。皮膚和肌肉變得鬆弛、大腦發生不可逆的退化、骨骼變得脆弱、眼球變得渾濁…

我理解他們為何羨慕我們。我曾經同他們一樣，以為我們不會衰老，以為我們會永遠保持不變的模樣。

每次出征前夕，我都會向戰友承諾：「你只管握緊武器，我會把你帶回仙舟的。」

但我食言了。那場戰鬥後，只有我一人拖著殘軀回到了天舶司。

我回不去了。我再明白不過。

自此，我便埋頭專注於公務，不再作回歸天際的空想。

我老了。  

Character Story: Part II

• Unlocked at Character Level 40

"Old decrepits are useless, like torn strips of clothes hanging on a wooden stick."

Years ago, I heard an old poem not from here. Its structure, rhyme, and form were different from Xianzhou poems. I don't like it, but this particular sentence stayed with me, like a ghost I could not chase away.

I've witnessed how Outworlders age, how their skin sag, their muscles shrink, how their brains degenerate irreversibly, how their bones weaken, and their eyes cloud over...

I can understand their envy towards us. I used to think the same way, that we will never grow old, that we will maintain the same appearance of youth.

Every time we head out for a battle, I always promise my comrades, "You just worry about holding onto your weapon. I'll bring you back to Xianzhou."

But I broke my promise. After that fateful battle, only I returned to the Sky-Faring Commission, dragging my own damaged body.

I can never return. I understood that then.

From then on, I tunnel-visioned on official documents, abandoning any dream of returning to the sky.

I grew old.
